NIE Mysore joins hands with Mysuru City Corporation and National Institute of Urban Affairs to restore Water Sanitation and Hygiene

Mysore: National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), New Delhi has jointly established the WASH Innovation Lab at NIE under IHUWASH supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Under this initiative, a consultation workshop for WASH Forum was held on 20th February 2019, at Sarvapalli Radhakrishna Hall, NIE, Mysuru between 9.30 am to 2 pm.

The Guests of Honor included Mr. G R Suresh, Deputy Commissioner (Development), MCC, Dr. D G Nagaraju, Health Officer, MCC, Mr. Anand Rudra, Senior Advisor WASH, USAID.To initiate the dialogue on the formulation of the WASH Forum; a panel discussion was held with various experts.

Speaking about the collaboration of NIE with MCC and NIUA in the WASH sector Dr. G Ravi, Principal, NIE, spoke and said ‘we intend helping these two organizations in developing and dissimilating knowledge as well as technologies, which will enable and make our city more efficient in WASH sector’.

Mr. T K Chittaranjan, Director, NIE highlighted the work done by the NIE CREST (Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies) in the field of Renewable Energy to Mysore which includes Rain Water, Solar energy projects, Solid waste Management etc.

The main aim of the WASH Forum is to create a platform to meet, discuss, share and resolve WASH issues of the city without any bias and act as an independent advisory support to the MCC. The WASH forum will be a network of representatives from government, academia, private sector, industries, entrepreneurs, civic societies and also general public who wish to contribute in improving the WASH related issues of Mysuru city innovatively.
