New Gym opened at PU Boys Hostel No. 4
Students of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Boys Hostel No. 4 at Panjab University will now have access to a modern gym facility aimed at promoting fitness, well-being, and a healthy lifestyle, following its inauguration on campus today.
Chandigarh, March 20, 2026: Students of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Boys Hostel No. 4 at Panjab University will now have access to a modern gym facility aimed at promoting fitness, well-being, and a healthy lifestyle, following its inauguration on campus today.
The Dean Student Welfare team comprising Prof. Yogesh Kumar Rawal, Prof. Namita Gupta, DSW (W), and Prof. Kashmir Singh, ADSW, today inaugurated the new gym facility in the esteemed presence of PU Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma, who presided as Guest of Honour.
PU Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma, in his inspirational message, emphasised that maintaining a balance between education and health is extremely important. He added that the gym is not just a place for exercise, but a centre for developing discipline, energy, and self-confidence.
The new gym is equipped with modern facilities. The idea behind this initiative is to keep hostel residents away from harmful habits such as substance abuse and to encourage them to focus on health and fitness, as a healthy body is the foundation of a successful life. The facility is expected to motivate students to move forward in a positive direction, as stated by the DSW Prof. YP Rawal.
Prof. Namita Gupta highlighted that the initiative is important for improving overall well-being, including physical, mental, and emotional health. Prof. Kashmir Singh emphasised that it will contribute to the holistic development of the residents.
Among other dignitaries present on the occasion were Prof. Simrit Kahlon, CVO, PU, and wardens of other hostels, including Dr Tilak, Dr Bhardwaj Bhargai, Dr Sucha Singh, Dr Mahesh Thakur, Dr Anju Goyal, Dr Varinder Kaur, Dr Nishima, Dr Jaspreet, Dr Supreet Gill, Dr Simranpreet, Dr Sarvnarinder Kaur, and Dr Tomeer Sharma, among others.
The event was attended by the hostel administration, wardens, staff, and a large number of students.
