Ludhiana, November 24, 2018: New Born Week was celebrated from15th November to 21st November, 2018 at Christian Medical College and Hospital. The theme for this year was “Care of Preterm and Low birth weight babies.” A program was organized in the postnatal ward for the nursing mothers and their relatives.
Principal college of nursing Dr.(Mrs.) Reena Jairus appreciated the work of students.
Dr.Inderpreet Sohi, HOD, Pediatric Medicine Department, CMC & Hospital Ludhiana spoke on the importance of temperature maintenance, breast feeding and infection prevention while taking care of neonates especially preterm newborns.
Mrs.Harjit, Associate Professor College of Nursing spoke on advantages and technique of breast Feeding.
Mrs.Premlata Prakash, Associate Professor & HOD Child Health Nursing College of Nursing gave a demonstration on Kangaroo Mother Care. Poster Exhibition was conducted by nursing students on newborn care.
Judges for poster competition were Dr.Merlin of Pediatric Medicine department & Mrs.Malini S.Bhatti, Associate Professor College of Nursing. Prizes and certificates were given away to the students. Various stalls were organized on bathing the newborn, clothing and diet for breastfeeding mothers.
All these activities were appreciated by the postnatal mothers and their relatives.
