Jalandhar/Kapurthala, April 2,2026: A special expert lecture on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was organized at I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU). Prominent scholars attended this lecture. Academician Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kauts, Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dr. Anuj Bansal, Professor, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal attended the ceremony as Chief Guests. The program began with the presentation of bouquets to the guests. The program was led by the Vice Chancellor IKGPTU Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. This event was organized by the Academic Department of the University.
Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kauts said that the National Education Policy (NEP) is a policy that will bring a revolutionary change in the education system of our country. This policy is student-centric, the main objective of policy is not just to get a degree, but to develop knowledge, skills and character. Special attention has been given to multi-disciplinary education, flexible course structure and skill-based learning in this policy. Students now get the freedom to choose subjects according to their interest, which enhances their potential. He said that the role of teachers is very important in this policy. They are not only knowledge givers,  but also guides and motivators. Finally, he appealed to all the students to take full advantage of the opportunities of this policy and make their future bright.
Dr. Anuj Bansal said that the National Education Policy opens the doors of new possibilities in the field of education. This policy is not limited to academic knowledge only, but also promotes practical skills, innovation and research. This enables students to compete at the global level. He said that the emphasis given especially on digital learning, online education and use of technology is a major feature of this policy. He also appealed to the faculty to adopt new technologies in their study methods and motivate students towards innovation.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that the NEP is a star document that brings a new era in the education system of our country. This policy prepares students not only with academic knowledge, but also to succeed in every field of life. The university has always been ahead in adopting new education policies and technologies. He said that the university is committed to including the main elements of the National Education Policy, namely multi-disciplinary education, skill development, research and innovation, in its courses. He appealed to the faculty to motivate the students towards new thinking and creativity keeping in mind the objectives of this policy.
On this occasion, the Registrar of the University Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu said that this policy provides a new direction and perspective in the field of education, which will give an opportunity to the youth of our country to reach new heights. He said that such lectures become a source of inspiration for the students and motivate them to move forward with new thinking. He asked the students to take full advantage of such opportunities.
The stage was moderated by the Deputy Librarian of the University Dr. Madhu Midda. At the end of the ceremony, the Dean Academic Prof. (Dr.) Y. S. Brar presented the vote of thanks. The Dean R&D of the University Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Satbir Singh along with various department heads, faculty members, officers, staff and students were present at the ceremony.
