Nawanshahr has now 4.95 lakh voters, adds 7722 new electors
ADC hands over final voter list to political parties

Nawanshahr, January 6, 2022: The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has now 495257 voters as per final voter list released by the district administration. A total of 7722 new voters have been added during the revision of electoral rolls that started on November 1, 2021.
While handing over the voter list to the representatives of the various political leaders for upcoming assembly elections, Additional District Election Officer-cum- Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh said that there is net increase of 7722 electors including 3786 males, 3934 females and two third gender voters as compared to the previous electoral roll published on November 1,2021.
He said that at the time of special summary revision November 1, 2021, the district had a total 487535 voters including 251907 males, 235608 females and 20 third genders and now it has 255693 males, 239542 females and 22 third gender voters.
Singh said that during the special summary revision of the electoral roll, various activities were carried out to raise awareness among prospective voters including vans, rallies, seminars; competitions were held in the district.
Singh said that this increase is a step in strengthening the democratic process so that no eligible Voter to be left behind.
He told that the main aim of the Special Summary Revision 2022 was to ensure enrolment of those who turned 18 or more as of the qualifying date of January 1, 2022, and also to provide opportunities for correction in electors’ particulars.
Singh said that anyone can also check the voter list on the websites of Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab viz. www.eci.nic.in and www.ceopunjab.gov.in respectively.
Further, he said that this is final voter list but updation process would continue till a week before filling of the nomination by the candidate during the elections and anyone can make vote till that time either through online or offline modes.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Mukand Lal from CPI, Narinder Singh from SAD, Tejinder Pal Singh from AAP, Abhishek Jain from Indian National Congress and Sarbjeet Jaffarpur from BSP.
