National Voters’ Day 2026 Celebrated with State-Level Padyatra in Chandigarh
On the occasion of National Voters’ Day 2026, MY Bharat Chandigarh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, organised a State-level Voters’ Awareness Padyatra in association with the NSS Unit of Panjab University.
Chandigarh, January 25, 2026: On the occasion of National Voters’ Day 2026, MY Bharat Chandigarh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, organised a State-level Voters’ Awareness Padyatra in association with the NSS Unit of Panjab University.
A total of 756 young voters actively participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to democratic values through the Voters’ Pledge, Shapath Chakras, and felicitation of first-time voters with badges. A symbolic passing of the baton of democracy highlighted the crucial role of youth in strengthening the electoral process.
The event featured a vibrant 2.5 km padyatra, along with rangoli activities and rhythmic yoga and zumba sessions for non-padyatra participants, showcasing the enthusiasm and active engagement of the youth.
The programme was graciously led by Prof. (Dr.) Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, in the august presence of Prof. Y. P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised the importance of ethical voting, informed participation, and the responsibility of young citizens in nurturing a vibrant democracy.
The event was successfully coordinated by Vinay Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Chandigarh, and Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS Programme Coordinator, Panjab University, with the active support of MY Bharat volunteers and enthusiastic participants.
The celebration marked a significant step towards empowering first-time voters and reinforcing the message that “Every Vote Matters.”
