National Sports Day being celebrated at Prithipal Singh Hockey Stadium, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana on Thursday, on the eve of birth anniversary of Indian Hockey legend Dhyan Singh.
Ludhiana, August 29, 2013: National Sports Day was celebrated by all the sports fraternity of the district at Prithipal Singh Hockey Stadium, Punjab Agriculture University on the eve of birth anniversary of Indian Hockey legend Dhyan Singh.
According to Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana, a hockey match was also played on the occasion. This day was celebrated to spread sports to every nook and corner of the country by creating a wide awareness about the fruitful side of sports as it is a need to build a sports culture in the country.
Olympian Hardeep Singh Grewal was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He paid tributes to Dhyan Chand and he inspired all the players towards sports.
