Chandigarh, 26 August 2025: The Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh, celebrated National Space Day 2025 at the BM Anand Auditorium. The event witnessed substantial participation from students and faculty.

The program began with an inspiring lecture on “Space Astronomy and AstroSat” by Prof. K.P. Singh (INSA Senior Scientist, IISER Mohali), who highlighted India’s achievements in space astronomy and the contributions of AstroSat to global research. This was followed by a talk by Prof. Sandeep Sahijpal, Panjab University, on “Evolution of the Universe: Big Bang to Planets,” which offered a comprehensive perspective on cosmic history and planetary formation.

The afternoon session featured documentary on ISRO's progress and student activities, including quiz and discussions, which kept participants engaged. Although cloudy skies prevented the stargazing session, students were introduced to the department’s telescopes through a demonstration on their functioning and applications.
