National Silk Expo 2025 Opens in Chandigarh – A Festival Season Special Showcasing India’s Handloom Treasures
The much-awaited National Silk Expo, a celebration of India’s rich handloom traditions, opened today at Himachal Bhawan, Sector-28B, Chandigarh. Running from August 14 to 19, 2025, the six-day exhibition features over 150 master weavers and designers from across India, offering visitors an unparalleled opportunity to explore authentic, handcrafted fashion and textiles.

Chandigarh, August 14, 2025: The much-awaited National Silk Expo, a celebration of India’s rich handloom traditions, opened today at Himachal Bhawan, Sector-28B, Chandigarh. Running from August 14 to 19, 2025, the six-day exhibition features over 150 master weavers and designers from across India, offering visitors an unparalleled opportunity to explore authentic, handcrafted fashion and textiles.
This edition of the National Silk Expo is bound to treat consumers to a kaleidoscope of India’s colorful diversity and talent. Special focus this time is on bridal sarees for the upcoming wedding and festive season, especially Karva Chauth. The Festival Season Special will showcase some of the finest silks, cottons, sarees, suits, dress materials, fashion jewellery, and more from weaving hubs such as Pochampally, Muga Silk, Paithani, Kosa Silk, Baluchuri, and Tussar. Saris with intricate Madhubani prints from Bihar are a highlight, alongside stalls featuring Kosa and Tussar silk saris.
Visitors can also admire Assam munga silk—the most expensive on display—offered at attractive prices, as well as the bandhani and patola sarees of Gujarat, which carry centuries of tradition in their vibrant patterns. Speaking at the opening, Organizer Jayesh Kumar of Gramin Haskala Vikas Samiti noted, “Silk and cotton mix drapes are increasingly popular among the youth, blending tradition with modern comfort.”
The exhibition is open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with free entry for all. From Banaras to Kanchipuram, the expo brings together the best of India’s weaving heritage, ensuring every visitor finds something unique and memorable.
