National seminar on Mannu Bhandari’s Katha Sansar

Jalandhar, December 3, 2021: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a national seminar on the topic Mannu Bhandari's Katha Sansar by PG Department of Hindi, Prof. Kumud Sharma (Department of Hindi, University of Delhi) participated as the resource speaker. This seminar was organised in the form of a tribute to Mannu Bhandari ji in the memory of the pioneer in giving pace and direction to a new dimension of creativity in Hindi with his stories, novels and literary contributions. During the commencement m, Dr. Bhavani Singh made the audience aware of the magnanimity of Manu Bhandari’s work, while giving a thorough discussion of the various aspects of the society described and depicted in the novels and stories of Mannu Bhandari. He also discussed the political side of Mannu's novels and stories. Dr. Kumud Sharma, while doing a subtle analysis of the interrelationships between Dr. Mannu Bhandari's personal and literary personality, said that Mannu Bhandari was actually a woman struggling for her identity in the changing equations of the relations of the sixth-seventh decade. Various forms and levels have been expressed in the form of different female characters of their fiction. After both the statements, Dr. Ashutosh Angiras ji expressed curiosity about understanding the female characters of Mannu Bhandari ji in the context of Indian side of female consciousness. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these kind of seminars provide a great platform to discuss literature and its various nuances with the younger generation. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Vinod Kalra, Head, PG Department of Hindi for successfully organising the seminar.
