Panjab University (PU) organised a one day national seminar on the theme “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar: Literature, Constitution and Re-reading of Society” by the Department of Hindi at the Golden Jubilee Hall.

Chandigarh, April 17, 2026: Panjab University (PU) organised a one day national seminar on the theme “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar: Literature, Constitution and Re-reading of Society” by the Department of Hindi at the Golden Jubilee Hall.
The Seminar Coordinator and Chairperson of the Department of Hindi, Prof. Ashok Kumar delivered the welcome address, highlighting the contemporary relevance of the theme. Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, in her inaugural address, emphasized the continuing significance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideas in the present socio-cultural context. The keynote speaker, Prof. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, presented a detailed analysis of Ambedkar’s literary and ideological contributions. Chief Guest Prof. Devinder Singh and Guest of Honour Shri Devendra Singh also shared their perspectives. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ashok Kumar.
The technical session that followed was chaired by Dr. Roshan Lal Dahiya. Speakers including Dr. Manmohan Singh, Parth Polke, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Narendra Kumar, and Kanu Sharma presented their views. Research scholars and students also presented their papers, engaging in discussions on various dimensions of Ambedkar’s literature, constitutional vision, and social thought. On this occasion, Dr. Supinder Kaur and Prof. Navjot were felicitated.
The valedictory session was chaired by Dr. Santosh Kumari Sharma. Prof. Ratan Singh, Prof. Ajay Ranga, Prof. Pramod Mehra, and Vineet Jakhad attended as distinguished guests. Speakers reflected on key insights emerging from the seminar. In his concluding remarks, Prof. Ashok Kumar expressed gratitude to all participants and guests. Dr. Kamraj Sindhu, J.B. Saini, Jai Prakash, and Harpreet Singh were also honoured during the session.
The seminar provided a platform for a multidimensional re-reading of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s thought and facilitated critical engagement with its relevance in contemporary society.
