Department of Paediatrics, DMCH in collaboration with DMC College of Nursing celebrated National Newborn week today in OPD Block of DMCH.

National New Born Week celebrated

Ludhiana, November 18, 2023: Department of Paediatrics, DMCH in collaboration with DMC College of Nursing celebrated National Newborn week today in OPD Block of DMCH.

 Theme for this year was “Nurturing newborn lives through community-Facility engagement” Under the guidance of Dr Triza Jiwan, a poster making competition and a role play on the importance of breast feeding, essential newborn care, hygiene practices and how to prevent infection in babies were  also organized  by  B Sc Nursing  3rd year students.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Superintendent Dr Sandeep Sharma, Nurisng Superintendent Sunita Deb, Sumeet Jassal Assistant Professor College of Nursing, Navdeep Kaur Nursing Tutor were present on the occasion

In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society appreciated the efforts of Department of Paediatrics and DMC College of Nursing for organizing this event to create awareness among the masses.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Puneet A. Pooni, Professor & Head Department of  Pediatrics stressed on need to improve newborn care at home and breast feeding.

Dr Kamal Arora, Professor Department of Pediatrics highlighted extra care needed for preterm babies once discharged home.

Dr Karambir Singh Gill, Assistant  Professor Department of  Pediatrics guided for not using bottle feed for babies.
Dr Karambir Singh Gill  elected as Treasurer of NNF (National Neonatology Forum) Punjab for 2023-24.

Winner students were awarded with the prizes.
