National e-conference on prison reforms in India: socio-legal perspective

Chandigarh: A National E-Conference on ‘Prison Reforms in India : Socio-Legal Perspective’ was organized by Dr. Anju Choudhary, Assistant Professor (Law) University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The E-Conference was focused on ‘Prison Reforms in India’, ‘Constitutional Guarantees ensured to Prisoners’ ‘Role of Correctional Institutions during COVID-19’, ‘A Socio-Legal study of Prison System’ and ‘Incarceration of LGBTQ People: Their Issues, Rights and Challenges’. 
The event was successfully conducted in 4 virtual meetings conducted in two time slots of 11:30AM – 1:30PM and 3PM – 5PM. The Virtual Sessions were chaired by Sh. Ravi Choudhary, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Sh. Ajay Bhatia, Additional Superintendent, Tihar Jail; Dr. Supinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Laws, Panjab University; Dr. Shipra, Associate Professor, Department of Laws, Panjab University; Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Laws, Panjab University; Dr. Sushila Devi Chauhan, Associate Professor, Department of Law, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra; Dr. Anupam Bhari; Assistant Professor, UILS, Panjab University; Adv. Anju Singh, Advocate District Court, Panipat; Sh. Anand Dhaiya, Vice President, District Bar Association, Panipat, Dr. Vipul Vinod, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.
 50 participants from all over the country presented their Research Papers during the Conference. This event was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Director, UILS, PU, Chandigarh and Teacher Coordinators Dr. Abha Sethi, Ms. Shafali Gumber, Mr. Harvinder Singh along with Student Coordinators of CJPC Ms. Sanjana, Mr. Sahil Jain and Ms. Vijay Lakshmi.
