NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY TO BE ORGANISED ON FEBRUARY 8

Ludhiana, February 5, 2019: Focusing on the importance of de-worming and ensuring better health and improved nutritional status of all children aged 1-19 years, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, National Deworming Day campaign would be organised in district Ludhiana on February 8, 2019 and the mop up day would be organised on February 14, 2019.

While chairing a meeting in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the National Deworming Day would be organised on February 8, and the mop up session to ensure that no child is left out would be carried out on February 14. During this event organised twice a year, Albendazole tablets would be distributed free of cost to children aged 1-19 years.

Mr Agrawal informed that the Albendazole tablets should not be consumed empty stomach and these would be distributed students studying in all government and private schools, academies and even in houses.With the help of this tablet, the children can be saved from diseases caused due to growth of intestinal worms in body. He said that a target of covering around 9 lakh children has been fixed.

He informed that if any child has worms in his body, it might lead to anaemia. He said that this medicine is very important for every child as it leads to good health and keeps the child safe from several diseases.
