National Conference on theme “Anthropology and Health: Responses to COVID-19

Chandigarh, March 10, 2022: The Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh is organizing Two Days National Conference from 10th to 11th March, 2022 in hybrid mode and on the theme entitled “Anthropology and Health: Responses to COVID-19”.

Dr. Vipin Kumar Koushal, Medical Superintendent, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function who inaugurated the national conference in the department in offline mode today. Dr. V. Bhalla, Formerly Professor, Department of Anthropology, was Guest of Honour of the inauguration ceremony of the conference.

Dr. Maninder Kaur, Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, welcomed the guests and delegates who joined the event in both online and offline mode and extended thanks to Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University for his patronage and guiding us in every field. She introduced the guests and enlisted various achievements of the department. More than 100 delegates have registered for the conference from different universities and institutes across the country as well as from abroad. Various invited lectures will be deliberated in next two days by the eminent speakers and researchers from diverse field of research in anthropological sciences.

The organizing Secretary, Dr. JS Sehrawat deliberated about the scope of this national conference and apprised the participants about various aspects of theme of the conference.

Prof. Abhik Ghosh, Coordinator, UGC-CAS II thanked the guests, faculty members from different universities, research scholars, students and staff for successful organization of the event and UGC CAS for funding this two-day national conference.
