‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ to become a people’s movement to save youth: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Fazilka/Chandigarh, September 16, 2026: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and party’s state in-charge Dr Satish Poonia today visited Fazilka and reviewed preparations for the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’.
During a meeting with party leaders and workers, the two leaders discussed arrangements for the yatra and also inspected the rally venue at the Old Sabzi Mandi. Dhillon urged party workers to create awareness among people about the adverse effects of drugs and take the message of the yatra to every household.
Dhillon said Punjab was facing a serious drug problem and its impact was not confined to the youth alone, as entire families were being affected.
“Someone’s son, someone’s brother, someone’s husband and someone’s father is falling prey to drugs. The stories of families devastated by drugs are deeply disturbing,” he said.
He said the fight against drugs required collective efforts by all sections of society. The BJP, he said, was launching the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ with a resolve to work towards making Punjab free from drugs.
According to Dhillon, the yatra would commence from Madhopur in Pathankot on September 18 and would be flagged off by BJP national president Nitin Nabin. The subsequent stages would begin from Gurdwara Jyoti Sarup Sahib in Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19, Sadiki border in Fazilka on September 20 and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, on September 21.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will participate in the yatra programme at the Sadiki border on September 20, he said.
Dhillon said the fight against drugs was not the responsibility of any one political party but a collective issue concerning the entire state.
He appealed to people across Punjab to join the yatra, saying concerted efforts were needed to address the drug problem and protect future generations from its harmful effects.
Dr Satish Poonia also called upon party leaders and workers to ensure wider public participation in the yatra and play an active role in creating awareness against drugs.
