NAAC Sponsored National Seminar on Quality Enhancement in Higher Education and Revised Accreditation Framework 

Jalandhar, September 13, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has long been recognised as a premier institute of higher learning for women in North India. The college has taken a very superlative initiative of organising a NAAC Sponsored seminar on “Quality Enhancement in Higher Education and Revised Accreditation Framework”. 

This seminar was in hybrid mode and was attended by more than 100 delegates from Punjab and other states like Maharashtra, Kerala, Haryana and other states. The   key note speaker of the seminar was Dr. B.S. Ponmudiraj, Advisor  NAAC, Bangalore. Other distinguished resource persons were Dr. Smita Raosaheb Deshmukh, Principal, Matoshri Vimlabai Deshmukh Mahavidyalaya, Maharashtra, Dr. S.S Chahal, Former Vice Chancellor, Maharana Partap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur and Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Professor, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar. 

In his keynote address, Dr. Ponmudiraj talked on revised Accreditation  Framework and the role of NAAC and its importance in new education policy to make India a superpower.  He averred that all the institutions should have the vision or plan to transfer into multidisciplinary institutions and also there is an  impact on research quality due to  less budget allocution to education and research in India as compared to developed countries. 

Dr. Smita adumbrated that some  of the causes of poor research quality are the lack of resources, unavailability of quality journals, more teaching workload,  plagiarism and  predatory publications. 

Dr. Renu discussed the seven criterion of NAAC in detail and how they lead to quality enhancement of higher education in all field may it be teaching learning, diversity and academic flexibility, research, social extension, contribution to national development by  fostering global   competencies among students, inculcating a value system among students, promoting the use of ICT and the quest for excellence. Dr. Chahal enlightened everyone about the New Education Policy and its future impact on Indian education sector. He maintained that all the educational institutions in India should focus on quality research if we want to compete with the global universities and colleges. 

Principal  Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that education today must respond to the global requirements. She averred that the vision of the KMV is to nurture global citizens and to provide them with the best quality education so that they may be able to compete at international level. Madam Principal lauded the efforts KMV IQAC team for successfully organising the NAAC sponsored  seminar.
