MYBYK, backed by Avon Cycles Ltd, introduces an all-new range of Electric Bicycles for shared mobility and last-mile delivery

Ludhiana: MYBYK, India’s largest shared active mobility service provider, has recently announced launching 2 electric bicycle variants, MYBYK Electric - a consumer bike for solving first & last-mile connectivity for citizens and tourists, and MYBYK Electric Cargo – a bike for solving last-mile delivery for gig-workers.

Previously, MYBYK bicycle sharing, India’s leading startup operating in shared transport and the micro-mobility sector, raised $1 million in pre-Series A funding from Avon Cycles Limited and other investors. Avon Cycles Limited needs no introduction and is the pioneer in the bicycle industry.

The 'active' electric mobility firm counts on Avon Cycles Limited as one of the strategic investors, with its rich legacy spanning more than seven decades in the cycling domain. It also wants to electrify last-mile delivery with its MYBYK Electric Cargo variant.

MYBYK plans to offer its services to delivery partners and help reduce not only carbon emissions but also the cost of last-mile delivery. MYBYK is exploring opportunities to partner with new-age companies and is open to collaborating with delivery partners for their Electric Cargo bicycles.

With over 8 years of experience in successfully operating 10000+ pedal bicycle-based Public Bike Sharing systems across 6 Indian cities, MYBYK is now venturing into the electric mobility space with a wholly indigenous and purpose-built electric bicycle that it has developed in-house.

Arjit Soni, Founder & CEO of MYBYK, on the launch of MYBYK Electric said, “With MYBYK Electric, we are trying to give users a unique combination of Health + Commute + Convenience. Our electric bicycles offer users all the advantages of a bicycle which one can PEDAL for health & leisure, and that of a low-speed electric scooter which one can THROTTLE for commute purposes. And for the adventurous ones, we have the POWERPEDAL mode, which assists the user and gives a boost when they pedal, reducing their effort by up to 80%. The inputs and insights from Avon Cycle Ltd. and their team were extremely helpful in developing world-class products.”

Rishi Pahwa, Jt. MD, Avon Cycles Ltd, said, “ As a leader in the bicycle industry, it is our innate responsibility and pleasure to extend support to endeavours in promoting cycling as first and last mile connectivity solutions. Launching such innovative products is a testament to a long and fruitful partnership with MYBYK in easing pressure on traditional modes of transport and existing infrastructure and bringing about sustainable environmental changes.”

Shreyansh Shah, Associate Director – Strategic Alliances, MYBYK, said, “Our company has recently been awarded the contract to implement 1000 electric bicycles in Mysuru city, which shall be inaugurated soon, and more cities are in the pipeline. Our e-cycles offer the dual benefit of an e-scooter and a pedal cycle and will be offered at almost 50% of the rental cost compared to the other low-speed e-scooter service providers, thereby bringing down the cost of first & last mile connectivity as well as last-mile delivery.”

The MYBYK Electric with PowerPedal is India’s first consumer electric bike designed for utility. While designing the bike, the company considered the minutest points to give an unparalleled user experience. The bike boasts several industry-first features, such as:
●    Bluetooth-based connected bike experience with the MYBYK app
●    Keyless cycle unlocking via MYBYK App and RFID
●    Keyless battery unlocking via MYBYK App
●    Swappable battery designed for a capacity of 0.54 KwH, giving a range of 80-100 kms depending on conditions
●    Frame-mounted large front basket

MYBYK, in March, was featured on Shark Tank India. Earlier, the company had raised USD 1 Mn in Jun 2021 and has been running the business with profitable unit economics.
