Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari on Wednesday being honoured by the residents of Mullanpur Dakha (Ludhiana district).

Ludhiana, October 23, 2013: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari was today honoured by the residents of Mullanpur Dakha for his efforts to expand the space below the flyover/divider at Mullanpur market from 30 meters to 85 meters.
The residents said, had the space not been expanded it would have divided the town and people would have to travel a distance of 2.5 kms to go across the road.
Speaking on the occasion, Tewari lauded the efforts of the local residents in getting the paths below the divider widened. He said, he had met the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes and had chaired a meeting of the ministry officials to ensure that the path was widened.
Lashing out at the state government, Tewari said, it had failed on all fronts. Having a dig at the state government for claiming to have got investment commitments from industry, he revealed that the industrialists were reluctant to invest in Punjab. Quoting industrialists he said, they told him that while in other states they are provided facilities and incentives for investments, in Punjab they are asked for share by the powers that be.
Tewari cautions the people against communal and decisive forces. He said that these forces are emerging and misleading the people with the help of some capitalist. He said that the UPA particularly Congress is sincerely working for the welfare and upliftment of common man, especially the poors and the downtrodden.
Tewari said that during the last nine years, UPA has empowered the people with various rights. He said, under the leadership of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Government has provided the legal right to the people for their food security. Food Security and Land Acquisition Act is sure to impact the people in a long way.
On the occasion, Tewari distributed grants of Rs. 42 lac to the various Panchayats of Dakha Constituency for development purpose. Present on the occasion includes former Punjab Minister Malkiat Singh Dakha, Ex-MLA Gurdeep Singh Bhaini, Jagpal Singh Khangura, Darshan Singh Birmi, DCC (U) President Pawan Dewan, K.K Bawa, Telu Ram Bansal, Major Singh Mullanpur, Hemraj Aggarwal, Bhajan Singh Detwal, Deepak Khandur, Purshottam Khalifa, Ajit Singh Jimmy, Pawan Sidana,
Later, Tewari visited the Mullanpur grain market and interacted with the farmers, who told Tewari that they are facing lot of difficulty for the sale of their produce. www.cityairnews.com
