MPH Students Conducted Community Health Outreach at Public Health Dispensary
Under the guidance of the Chairperson, Dr Manoj Kumar, the MPH 3rd Semester students of the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, conducted a health awareness programme for women attending their antenatal visits at 25 Sector Dispensary (UAAM), Chandigarh. Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: Under the guidance of the Chairperson, Dr Manoj Kumar, the MPH 3rd Semester students of the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, conducted a health awareness programme for women attending their antenatal visits at 25 Sector Dispensary (UAAM), Chandigarh. The outreach was led by Dr. Paravreet Kaur, Faculty, CPH.
During the programme, Dr. Manvi addressed women on anaemia prevention, while Dr. Karuna focused on oral hygiene and safe, healthy motherhood. The session highlighted the importance of regular IFA (Iron-Folic Acid) supplementation, nutritious meals, Vitamin-C-rich foods, and fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables during pregnancy.
Women were counselled on brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, seeking timely dental care, limiting sugary foods and fast food, and maintaining good oral hygiene throughout pregnancy. Special emphasis was placed on avoiding smoking, alcohol, gutka, khaini, zarda and paan masala.
The outreach also covered breastfeeding and early oral hygiene practices for infants, encouraging healthy habits from the beginning of life. Colgate toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed among the participating women.
