MP Seechewal, MLA Prashar and MLA Chhina plant trees on banks of 'Buddha Dariya' to mark 'Basant Panchami' 

Ludhiana, February 14, 2024: Moving forward with the plantation drive launched from Gurdwara Gau Ghat on February 2, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi and Ludhiana South MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina took up plantation drive on the banks of 'Buddha Dariya' on Tajpur road to mark 'Basant Panchami' on Wednesday. 

Grown trees of upto 7-8 feet height were planted to ensure that the trees do survive. Medicinal plants are also being planted alongside the 'Dariya'.

MP Seechewal said that starting from STP Jamalpur, major plantation drive has been initiated. On Wednesday, plantation was done in the areas falling outside the MC limits and plantation would be also be done within the city in the coming days. 

On 'Basant Panchami', MP Seechewal appealed the public to step forward and plant more trees alongside the Dariya. He appealed the residents to put joint efforts to save our environment and water bodies for our future generations. 

MP Seechewal said that Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is committed to clean the water bodies across the state. People should also understand their responsibility and support the authorities.

MP Seechewal said that the Dariya also holds religious importance as Guru Nanak Dev ji had visited the 'Dariya' site near Gurdwara Gau Ghat. The plantation drive was also commenced from the site near Gurdwara Gau Ghat on February 2. He appealed the public to become a part of this drive at large. 

MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi and MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina appreciated the efforts of MP Seechewal for spreading greenery alongside the 'Dariya'.

MLA Prashar stated that MP Seechewal performed a major role in cleaning the 'Kali Bein' and now rigorous efforts are being made to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya'.

Meanwhile MP Seechewal, MLA Prashar and MLA Chhina appealed the residents to stop dumping waste in the 'Buddha Dariya' and contribute their bit to keep the water bodies and environment clean.
