MP Seechewal holds review meeting; Joint teams of PPCB, Police and MC to take strict action against dairy owners dumping cow dung in 'Buddha Dariya' from August 1
Cracking whip on the violators, joint teams of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Police and Municipal Corporation (MC) will take strict legal action against the dairy owners who are caught dumping cow dung in the 'Buddha Dariya' from August 1.

Ludhiana, July 28, 2025: Cracking whip on the violators, joint teams of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Police and Municipal Corporation (MC) will take strict legal action against the dairy owners who are caught dumping cow dung in the 'Buddha Dariya' from August 1.
Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, on Monday, held a review meeting at Jamalpur sewer treatment plant (STP) in this regard and directed the authorities to ensure that cow dung is not dumped in the Buddha Dariya.
Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr Pragati Rani, ACA GLADA Dr Shikha Bhagat, ACP Sumit Sood, ACP Jasbinder Singh, Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg among other officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), drainage, PSPCL, PEDA etc were present in the meeting. Representatives of the Tajpur road dairy farmers association were also invited to the meeting.
MP Seechewal stated that they do not want to take any action against anyone and they are also not against any sector. But cow dung cannot be dumped in the Buddha Dariya and National Green Tribunal (NGT) has also taken strict note of the same.
He further stated that joint teams of PPCB, Police and MC are being formed and strict legal action would be taken against the dairy owners from August 1, if they are caught dumping cow dung in Buddha Dariya. Environment Compensation (EC) would also be imposed on the violators.
Meanwhile, directions were also issued to the PPCB officials to take strict action against dyeing units dumping untreated waste in the MC sewer lines or in Buddha Dariya. Also the concerned authorities were directed to remove the encroachments alongside the Dariya including those outside the city limits.
MP Seechewal and MLA Grewal said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to make 'Rangla Punjab'. They appealed to the residents to join hands with the government and administration, so that combined efforts can be made for saving the environment for the coming generations.
