MP: Scindia lays foundation for ₹350 crore development projects in Guna

Guna, June 29 (IANS) Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia was recently on a four-day visit to Guna, during which he gave a fresh impetus to the district's development by inaugurating and laying foundation stones for various projects worth about Rs 350 crore.

During his visit, Scindia participated in programmes related to environment protection, water conservation, irrigation, railways, roads, energy, skill development, agricultural infrastructure, women empowerment, health, and public welfare, while also reviewing the progress of ongoing development works.

The visit began at the source of the Kuno River in Kanja village, where the Union minister planted a tree under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call. On the occasion, he launched the "Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan," a people's movement to protect rivers. He also inaugurated a check dam constructed at a cost of Rs 17.98 lakh in Chinera village.

Scindia emphasised that protecting water, forests, and land can only be achieved through public participation, and that environmental conservation is the collective responsibility of every citizen.

In a major boost to power infrastructure, Scindia laid the foundation stone of a Rs 278 crore electricity substation at "Mudra Hanuman." This facility will directly benefit more than 225,000 citizens across around 225 villages, along with the laying of 100 kilometres of power lines. He stated that these substations would bring new light to millions of homes and resolve the persistent problem of power cuts.

He also inaugurated the 4.5 MW Sangarner Solar Plant at Khutiawar, built at a cost of Rs 20 crore, with an expected annual output of around Rs 75 lakh. Additionally, a modern ITI building, constructed at Rs 14.74 crore in Tilwara Marki Mahu, and the Dhanwadi Electricity Sub-Centre, built at Rs 2.18 crore, were inaugurated, aimed at enhancing skill development for the youth and ensuring quality electricity supply in rural areas.

On the railway front, Scindia flagged off the Bina-Ruthiai-Bina MEMU train service from Guna railway station. He mentioned that a proposal to adjust train timings according to the demands of local passengers has been sent to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

In the agricultural sector, he inaugurated the foundation for a new fruit and vegetable mandi to be developed at a cost of about Rs 3 crore. Three roads constructed at a total cost of Rs 11.64 crore, including Barkheda Gird-Durduru, Budhe Balaji-Hanuman Tekri, and Mahugura Phatak-Kapargari-Bujurg, were also inaugurated. Land patches were distributed to 160 beneficiaries in Bude Balaji during the programme.

Scindia held interactions with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana and women from self-help groups. He highlighted the inspiring stories of successful women entrepreneurs as symbols of a developed India and assured support for self-help groups with an annual turnover of more than Rs 1 crore by providing them with loading vehicles.

The Union Minister visited the Hanuman Ji temple at Tekri, where he prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state and the country. He also inaugurated the renovation work of the historic Ram Janaki Temple in Patai village at a cost of about Rs 20 lakh, which is expected to become an important centre of cultural heritage in the region.

During a "DISHA meeting" chaired by Scindia, progress on various development schemes was reviewed in detail. He highlighted that a 50-bed maternity ward, a 50-bed critical care unit, and a new 150-bed hospital building are being developed in the district, along with the installation of advanced equipment, including MRI, bone density, and C-arm machines.

The number of doctors has increased from 40 to 56, and nursing staff numbers have also risen significantly. A proposal of about Rs 20 crore is being sent for the rejuvenation of the Kuno River, which will help irrigate around 1,800 hectares of land. Major irrigation and drinking water projects, including the Rs 267 crore Niwari Irrigation Project, the Rs 100 crore Paneti Dam Project, the Rs 100 crore Paldoria Project, and the Sindh River-based drinking water scheme, were also reviewed, with officials directed to complete them on time.

Scindia stated that development and public services remain the government's highest priorities. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, development works in the Guna Parliamentary Constituency are advancing at an unprecedented pace.

He stressed that development is not merely about constructing infrastructure but about bringing positive changes in the lives of every citizen. The Union Minister expressed confidence that Guna would soon establish a new identity in irrigation, education, health, agriculture, industry, railways, roads, and energy.
