MP Sanjeev Arora and IG SPS Parmar launch tree plantation drive

Ludhiana, July 25, 2022: To emphasize the importance of plants and trees within society, tree plantation drive under the patronage of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, was initiated by Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range SPS Parmar, with aim to motivate citizens of District Ludhiana to adopt nature and stay connected with the Creator, during an event held in Ludhiana Range office, opposite old courts complex here today, wherein Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha) presided as Chief Guest.  

Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha) after initiating plantation drive lauded the Punjab Police personnel who are running a campaign against anti-social and gangsters by risking their lives. Speaking on the importance of trees, he said that trees not only make the environment pure and green but also provide oxygen. He said that trees play an important role in the health of human life. Apart from this, trees have an important role in wildlife. He said that trees also contribute a lot to the community as it is often seen that panchayats are held under trees and children play in the shade of trees. He said that in a study it has also come to the fore that if a patient sees green trees from the window during treatment, then he gets positive vibes, due to which he can recover soon. He added it’s essential for all of us to keep environment clean and green. 

SPS Parmar, IG Ludhiana Range appealed to the respective police officials and the citizens to have respect for nature and ensure to plant trees, enabling to have clean environment and encouraged them to spread the noble cause initiated under the patronage of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, to make Punjab more greener. He revealed that every unit is to plant 61,000 saplings during this monsoon season. He said it is our social responsibility to plant maximum trees as this is not the responsibility of the officials of the Forest Department alone. He asserted that it is also important to take care of sapling after its plantation. He added monsoon season is the best time to plant as saplings grow on their own during the rainy season and not much efforts are required for growth of the plant.  

On the occasion, a special portrait depicting Slogan, “rukh lagao punjab noon swarg banao” prepared by former Additional Advocate General and Chairman Punjab Infotech - Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu was also launched by Member Parliament Rajya Sabha Sanjeev Arora along with Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range SPS Parmar, in the presence the august gathering.   

Plant saplings were also distributed amongst the distinguished guests present on the occasion and within the police personnel with aim to encourage them to be part of the plantation drive. 

Prominent citizens namely Former Additional Advocate General Punjab and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu, Hero Heart DMC Secretary Prem Gupta,  Dr. Gurpreét Wander, Dr. Bishav Mohan, Dr. Niraj Thapar, Dr. Suman Puri, Eminent Industrialist Mahesh Goel (Janpath Estates), Rajinder Bansal, Davinder Bhasin, Sonu Nilibar, Bikram Bembi, Sanjeev Sethi, Ashwani Joshi, Chetan Pahwa participated in the plantation drive.
