MP Deepender Hooda's Jibe: The 'Champat Rai Model' is Devouring Rohtak's Prestigious Model School Society - Appeals to city residents to unite and protest against the mismanagement of the Model School Society

Rohtak, July 15, 2026: Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda expressed deep concern over reports regarding the financial distress of Rohtak's prestigious Model School Society, remarking that it appears the "Champat Rai Model" is devouring this esteemed institution.

He lamented that a magnificent 74-year-old legacy has been pushed to the brink of financial ruin, falling victim to the personal interests and financial mismanagement of individuals linked to the ruling party. He stated that individuals associated with the BJP made arbitrary appointments to accommodate their associates and misappropriated the Model School's funds, effectively bankrupting the prestigious institution. Today, teachers, staff, students, and their parents are bearing the brunt of this situation.

He appealed to the city's residents to unite in protest against the anti-education BJP government and the mismanagement of the Model School Society. "Together, we will fight for the rights of students, parents, and teachers—from the streets to Parliament," he declared.

MP Deepender Hooda, an alumnus of the Model School, expressed pride in having received his early education there. Over its glorious 74-year journey, the school has produced numerous military officers, civil servants, doctors, engineers, and politicians. He remarked that the state government's anti-education stance has devastated Haryana's education system, affecting both government schools and illustrious institutions like the Model School.

He noted that students once took great pride in securing admission to this school. There was a time when even the most powerful recommendations were of no avail in securing a seat at the Model School, Rohtak. The MP stated that according to the Union Ministry of Education's Performance Grading Index (PGI) report, Haryana's government education system has deteriorated to a level worse than even that of a Union Territory like Daman and Diu. Within a single year, Haryana's overall PGI score plummeted from 8th to 14th place. Due to a shortage of teachers and the government's absurd directives, school enrollments are declining instead of rising.

The MP noted that the Congress government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda had constructed and upgraded 2,332 schools to improve the standard of education in the state. They also established Model Schools, Kisan Model Schools, and Aarohi Model Schools. In contrast, the current government, instead of opening new schools, has shut down hundreds of government schools and ruined the Model Schools. Under the guise of a "merger" policy, the BJP government closed approximately 5,000 schools; children were even forced to stage sit-in protests to save their schools.

Today, the Model School in Rohtak is grappling with the consequences of the actions taken by the BJP government and those in power—a government that has shut down thousands of schools across the state over the last 12 years, he added.
