Ludhiana, March 1, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora on Friday convened a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and other concerned officials here today, to discuss various development works underway in Ludhiana and other parts of the district.

The discussions were mainly held on Halwara Airport, NHAI Projects, ESI Hospital and other government hospitals across the district, projects related to the Railways, MPLAD Scheme and infrastructure development in the district.

Arora reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction work at the Halwara Airport project. During the meeting it came up from the Deputy Commissioner about certain issues requiring intervention from the Central Government. Arora assured his full support in resolving these issues.

The meeting also involved discussions regarding pending National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects in and around Ludhiana especially beautification of elevated road project, cycle track, parking slots, Ludhiana-Ropar Highway, Ludhiana- Bathinda and Southern Bypass.

Arora informed the Deputy Commissioner that after his perusal with the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, the upgradation work of the ESI Hospital at Ludhiana has started with a project cost of Rs.9 Crore from the Central Government. He also informed that the civil structure of the ESI Hospital is being studied by the technical team for increasing the bed capacity from 300 to 500.

On the occasion, Arora said as part of a larger initiative by the state government, he along with the Health Ministry under the leadership of Chief Minister, Punjab Bhagwant Mann have been conducting regular meetings for the upgradation and improvement of District Hospitals in Ludhiana and other parts of the state. He further informed the Deputy Commissioner that the survey and planning work for these hospitals has already been completed and the work of Ludhiana Civil Hospital has already started.

Regarding the MPLAD Scheme and Infrastructure Development, Arora asked Deputy Commissioner to obtain the latest updates on all the development works recommended by him under the scheme in the past two years.

Further, Arora stated that the upgradation projects for three railway stations namely Ludhiana, Dhandari Kalan and Phillaur are progressing on schedule as assured by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ferozepur and Ambala Divisions.

Arora reiterated his unwavering commitment to supporting Ludhiana's development at both the State and Central Government levels. He emphasized that his primary focus remains the city's progress and well-being.

ADC (General) Ojasvi Alankar, ADC (Rural Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and ADC (Urban Development) Rupinderpal Singh were also present in the meeting.
