MP Arora efforts paid of, NHAI gives approval to four bridges over Sidhwan Canal

Ludhiana, March 5, 2023: Sincere efforts made by Sanjeev Arora, MP (Rajya Sabha) have finally shown results. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given “in-principle approval” to construct four bridges over the Sidhwan Canal at the Ladowal bypass here.

Arora had met the NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav in Delhi in January this year and discussed in detail the NHAI issues related to Punjab and particularly to Ludhiana. During this meeting, the chairman assured Arora that the process of project of construction of 4 bridges across Sidhwan Canal towards South City in Ludhiana would be completed by end of this year. He has been constantly following up on this matter with the concerned minister, secretary & the NHAI chairman.

In-fact, Arora had taken an initiative to raise the demand for construction of four bridges over the Sidhwan Canal at the Ladowal bypass after a large number of Ludhianvis including the leading philanthropists and industrialists such as Radhika Jaitwani, Mridula Jain, Anoop Bector and Gagan Khanna approached him personally for the same. Arora was apprised that the massive traffic congestion in the south city area would be minimised up to maximum level if these four bridges are constructed. City residents were raising this demand over the period, but nothing concrete was taking place.

In a statement here today, Arora said he is delighted to learn about the development. He thanked Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the NHAI chairman for acceding to his demand in a very short period. Arora said, “This is not my achievement. Rather, this is the achievement of the AAP-led government in Punjab because I’m working to fulfill dreams of Punjab CM Sh.Bhagwant Mann, who is a dynamic and development-oriented chief minister.”

Arora said NHAI Project Director Krishan Sachdeva has already stated that as the NHAI has given its nod for the project, a feasibility and alignment survey would be conducted in coming days to prepare the detailed project report (DPR). He said Sachdeva has also stated that on the basis of DPR tenders, it would be floated to award the work. “I am hopeful that everything will be done within timeframe by the NHAI as has been done in completing Sherpur Chowk ROB”, he said, adding that even the work of the elevated road project on Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway is in progress as per the given deadline.

Arora hoped that after completion of the NHAI projects, the overall scenario in the city would get changed, and there would be hardly any traffic congestions. He announced that he would keep on constantly following up on the public issues until these arrived at a logical end. “My priority is to make Ludhiana a model city," he said.
