Ludhiana, May 15, 2025: In a significant step toward empowering residents living within the Lal Lakir, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora today conferred proprietary rights to 121 households under the “Mera Ghar Mere Naam” scheme. The property certificates were distributed at a special event held at Shree Guru Ravidas Dharamshala, Haibowal Khurd, Ludhiana, on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, MP Arora described the initiative as a landmark move aimed at resolving long-standing property ownership issues in Haibowal Khurd (Ward No. 63). Residents had been demanding legal ownership of their homes for over 35 years. Arora remarked that he was surprised to learn during the event that even the family of Area Councillor Maninder Kaur Ghuman was among the beneficiaries.

Highlighting the broader impact of the scheme, Arora said, “This initiative not only addresses decades-old challenges but also restores dignity and opens new economic opportunities for residents. By granting legal recognition, it allows residents to leverage their property for financial growth—whether through loans or future family planning.”

The move was met with overwhelming appreciation from residents, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the fulfilment of this long-pending demand. Earlier this month, 990 beneficiaries in Sunet and Barewal were similarly granted proprietary rights at a function held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on May 6. Additionally, 158 residents of Haibowal Kalan received proprietary rights at an event organized at the Langar Hall of Gurudwara Sadh Sangat Sahib, Haibowal Kalan, on May 13.

Arora noted that the issue of Lal Lakir ownership surfaced repeatedly during his campaign meetings in Sunet, Barewal, and Haibowal. “Legal ownership empowers residents to use their property as a financial asset, promoting independence and stability,” he said. He said certificates have been prepared after a comprehensive verification process conducted by various government departments. “Each certificate has been duly signed by seven government officers after proper verification,” he added.

Arora also informed beneficiaries that any corrections required in the property certificates can be made at the MCL D-Zone Office on all working days between 10 AM and 5 PM within the next 90 days. He extended his gratitude to the government officers involved for their cooperation in successfully executing the initiative and encouraged residents to celebrate the occasion, saying, “You are now the rightful proprietors of your homes.”

In addition, Arora presented his three-year report card and announced plans to establish two additional Mohalla Clinics in Haibowal.

The event was attended by Mayor Principal Inderjeet Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Parashar, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar, and Davinder Singh Ghuman, among others.
