MP Arora confers Ownership Rights to Households of Haibowal Khurd and Rajpura Basti

Ludhiana, May 21, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora today conferred proprietary rights to 61 households of Haibowal Khurd (40) and Rajpura Basti near DMC Hospital (21) under the “Mera Ghar Mere Naam” scheme. The property certificates were distributed at a special event held at Senior Citizen Home, Haibowal Khurd (ward number 64).

Congratulating the beneficiaries, Arora termed it a significant step toward empowering residents living within the Lal Lakir. He described the initiative as a landmark move aimed at resolving long-standing property ownership issues in Haibowal Khurd and Rajpura Basti.  Residents of these areas were demanding legal ownership of their homes for about 30 years.

Arora said that this initiative not only addresses decades-old challenges but also restores dignity and opens new economic opportunities for residents. By granting legal recognition, it allows residents to leverage their property for financial growth—whether through loans or future family planning.

Adding, he said earlier, 1,523 households from the areas of Sunet, Barewal, Haibowal Kalan, Haibowal Khurd and Jawaddi Kalan—have been granted proprietary rights. As such, till date, around 1600 households have been granted ownership rights. He added that any remaining areas may also be covered in the future.

Arora said the issue of Lal Lakir ownership surfaced repeatedly during his meetings in the last two months. He added legal ownership empowers residents to use their property as a financial asset, promoting independence and stability. He added certificates have been prepared after a comprehensive verification process conducted by various government departments.

Further, Arora said any corrections, if required in the property certificates can be made at the MCL D-Zone Office on all working days between 10 AM and 5 PM within the next 90 days. He extended his gratitude to the government officers involved for their cooperation in successfully executing the initiative.

Arora briefed the gathering about his report card of three years as an MP.

Mayor Principal Inderjeet Kaur and Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Parashar praised the work done by Arora and appealed to people to support and vote for Arora – the AAP candidate for the upcoming bypoll from Ludhiana (West). They assured that Arora would work more if voted to power.

The event was attended among others by Indu Munish Shah, Munish Shah, Bittu Bhullar, NRI Jagtar Singh, Jagdev Sekhon, Daljit Singh, Manju Verma, Ashwani Sharma and Baljinder Singh.
