Movie Review-MADRAS CAFE
A politically tense, but otherwise an explosive espionage thriller which is thoroughly unconventional & has a semi commercial look to the ugly civil war of Sri Lanka & how India's fate changed with that. Madras Cafe is a carefully crafted masterpiece which thrives in the freshness of its concept and is aimed to make a serious insight into the assassination of the former PM Rajiv Gandhi, how things transpired and how LTTE and other angles intertwined into same.
There is no commercialism involved, no bold heroics, no songs, no masala action, no larger than life persona, no melodrama, what is there is a very taut, gripping, thriller with enthralling action, energetic plot and skillful narration which keeps you on the edge of the seat especially the 2nd half.
In spite of all the above missing, this one is neither an Art Movie nor a Documentary. Such is the brilliance of the director Shoojit Sircar. Take a Bow man, Firstly you ventured into altogether different zone after immensely successful Vicky Donor. Secondly, it is a rare example of passionate and compelling cinema, such movies are very difficult to even conceive but, conceiving, planning, piecing and thereafter executing such a film is a very difficult thing and the on top of that the effort shows. The cinematography is top Notch, performances brilliant.
In One Line, this one is seriously sensible and flawless cinematic Brilliance. Go for this one.
If you like only typical Hindi movie masala, unrealistic action or melodrama, this movie is not for you.

Movie Review-SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE
A tell tale of Live in relationship culminating in Marriage or not to…..It mirrors the mindset of the youth in contemporary times, an honest tale of modern yet confused Desi Indian Youth living in the perennial fear of commitment, yet after a heart break…2nd/3rd or 4th time, dare to fall in love again & again (no pun intended). Also it envisages how the meaning of love & commitment has undergone a sea change in recent times at least in metros.
A befitting ode to the sugary romance of DDLJ…You don’t feel that the movie is a leaf out of been-there-seen-that kind of situations, rather, it ensures that the three characters in the movie follow their hearts whilst not succumbing to the regular societal norms. They don’t act like rebels, but are straight forward & honest. There is a subtle humour throughout the movie which also makes sure that there is never a dull moment in the movie, although the humour is also not over the top.
Performances wise, All 4 act like Fab 4…Sushant, Rishi Kapoor, Parineeti & Vaani…..just Brilliant…The dialogues are fun to listen most of the times. The movie also tries to change the mindset without belittling the traditional rituals. The flaws……Yes there are two…Slight Slow pacing & repetitive situations & dialogues (which might be funny for some but annoying for some), music is peppy & vivacious. The bottom word from the makers is Marry If u want to not because you must. Go give this one a chance, because it’s refreshingly different and sweet but confused.

Movie Review- GRAND MASTI
Well, this one frankly doesn’t need a review. The Makers have publicized it to be 1st Adult Comedy on lines of American Pie, Censors gave it an A, So, it’s clear for one & all. After knowing all this, u still want to watch it, go for it, but For God’s sake, don’t come out of the Audi & go on cribbing & trashing the content of the film, as most of the critics have done. I strictly feel no feathers should be ruffled, no offence or disrespect felt……If the movie is said to be an Adult Comedy, it will have adult content, double meaning innuendos, below the belt humour. I seriously feel, we all need to change our mental approach. Most of us have share below the belt Texts (SMS – Mobile), on Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp etc, then why single out movies & suddenly start behaving like saints. The critics have trashed the movie so badly announcing that it demeans women, all men are horny bast***s, females are just objects of pleasure etc. Either they haven’t seen the movie properly or just made up their mind to ridicule it. If the 3 men are shown to be having excessive libidos, 3 out of 6 females in the movie also behave similarly in the movie, so why trash just Men.
The movie is a roller coaster ride with periods of exacerbation & remission, but the good times are definitely more. Most of the humour is double meaning, but makes you laugh, even some times loud also, but some scenes are plain ordinary. The music is a complete downer barring the title song which comes in the climax. There is no place for script in such LOL movies. Performances wise, we all know Ritesh to be having a great comic timing, he doesn’t disappoint, Vivek is good, but the scene stealer for me is Aftab Shivdasani, he is just mind blowing. Now it’s your choice, whether you want to watch it or not, but this certainly is not a piece of trash. As I have said earlier, for me every cinema is important be it commercial or art, action or romance, comedy or drama, The only cinema which, I desist from is (though it’s critically acclaimed & very good) the tragic form of cinema which provides sadistic pleasures (Devdas, Lootera, Rockstar etc) Grand Masti made me laugh for most of the time out of a run time of 2hrs15mins & I came out of the Audi with a smile, that’s more important.
