Movie Review Jai Ho: As the trailers have shown, the film is about Aam Aadmi (Mango People) with Salman being at the centre stage of the same. Jai Ho, a remake of a Telugu Flick Stalin (inspired from Engllish Movie Pay it Forward) is the story of an Ex-Army Officer Jai Agnihotri (Salman) who had to leave army due to not following of instructions/orders in a civil operation. Now, he runs a garage but is a good Samaritan, always willing to help out people, & wants to create a system in the society where every person instead of saying Thank You helps 3 persons who in turn help 3 more & so on thus forming an ever-growing circle of people helping each other, thereby creating a cooperative society & a healthier nation. The concept is novel, the thought process genuine & the execution brilliant. In a turn of events, he collides with the Son in law (Mukul Dev) of Home Minister Dashrath Singh(Danny Denzongpa) & invites his wrath. Jai’s sister Geeta (Tabu) asks him to cool down & settle the dispute to which he reluctantly agrees but when he’s insulted & humiliated badly, all hell breaks loose & thereafter what happens & how the common man joins the fight of Jai forms the crux of the climax.

To begin with the Critical Analysis, the movie is being pitched forward to bring forth the Being Human Nature of Salman to his Fans. To add as a testimony to that, there are a slew of actors who were once seen in Bollywood not too long ago namely Mohnish Behl, Tabu, Sharad Kapoor, Vikas Bhalla, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Thakur, Mahesh Manjrekar, Nadira Babbar, Nauheed Cyrusi, Tulip Joshi, Varun Badola, Yash Tonk, Sudesh Lahiri, Bruna Abdullah, Haroon Kaazi, Ashmit Patel, Vatsal Seth, Genelia De’Souja Deshmukh amongst many others (Not to miss the Khopdi from serial Nukkad who stands his own in the climax). It seems like rather than casting smaller actors or extras, it’s Salman’s way of saying them Thank You. There are many more, but more on that later. At one point, it seems that Sooraj Barjatya is the casting director so much so that you don’t remember the names of each character. The movie is slow to begin with, & the customary Entry sequence is the fight sequence followed by a Salman Song. However, I would like to single out  4 Sequences of 1st half which raise your anticipation giving you goose bumps & may be leave you moist eyed…..1st The Genelia De’Souja Sequence & its aftermath, 2nd the War combat Sequence involving Kids, 3rd the Essel World/Funzone Sequence &lastly, the Police Station Sequence at the intermission. The 2nd half is again roller coaster with a few sequences standing out especially the one in Danny’s Office. The climax is long drawn but with some taken for granted sequences especially, The Suniel Shetty Tank sequence & Danny’s Newspaper sequence with the CM Ashok Pradhan (Mohnish Behl). On the whole, the movie is a typical Masala Action Entertainer though on the look of it, it doesn’t seem so as it is on the lines of Munnabhai Series. The Director Sohail Khan deserves brownie points for intelligently weaving a story & an emotional angle amongst dishing out the customary buffet for the Salman Fans (Awesome Action) alongside introducing the novel concept in the movie revolving around the Common Man & also infusing a bit of Patriotism on the occasion of Republic Day. Amongst the other list of actors, there is Pulkit Samrat (Fukrey), Sana Khan, Aditya Pancholi also donning various roles in The Salman’s list of Thank You Friends, but the biggest one is reserved for Rinky aka Pinky (why so..see the movie) [Daisy Shah] & Santosh Shukla (Top Henchman of Danny who starts all this by holding Tabu by collar) who both make a confident Debut. Salman’s nephew Chhota Chuha aka Kabir (Naman Jain from Chillar Party) is a total riot & excellent. Performance wise, Needless to Say this is a Salman Show all the way…..He acts, emotes, dances, fights (so what’s new)…..In this movie, he hisses, coughs, miaows, woofs, roars, snarls, bites & claws (all of that literally & metamorphically like a Lion). In Short, he fires on all cylinders, standing tall & dwarfing everything and everyone in sight. All in all, it’s one of the Salman’s best in a long time. So the bottom line is that it is an Awesome action (Read Gruesome in Climax) Entertainer with an Intelligently woven storyline & an emotional angle. The music is a bit let down for Salman Fans (generally, he has a good ear for Music as his films have shown earlier). The DOP is great with the film maintaining a vibrant look through out. Editing wise, the start is slow till the Genelia Episode which sets the pace for things to follow & 2nd half does go up down a bit (especially with Romantic Song & Photocopy Song), but never bores you. The film has been promoted by Salman as the film for Aam Aadmi with clear instructions of not to hike any price of tickets (Max. is Rs.300 in Mumbai Circuit) as against (Rs.500 for Chennai Express & Rs.900 for Dhoom 3 & Rs.1400 for Imax Dhoom 3). Clearly, Salman is not targeting the box office record race, but one thing is assured, he clearly has a winner in his hands & the movie has long legs & in the final run will be in Top 3 of Bollywood all time. The run time is 145 minutes. All Said & done, there are glitches in the narrative, but the noble cause negates that greatly & it deserves a Watch for a brilliant execution of a noble, well-intentioned message in an entertaining form. A feel good film filled with positivity & warmth…..4.25*

P.S. Oh Yes, the customary Salman Shirt does come out in the climax.//bollywood celebrity news, bollywood weddings, bollywood events, bollywood stars, bollywood television news, bollywood movies news, bollywood gossips,  world news,
