Movement of heavy vehicles to remain prohibited at Sahnewal Main Chowk and Market
Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ludhiana (East) has issued an order stating that whereas, it has been brought to notice through recent reports and media inputs that severe traffic congestion is being caused at Sahnewal Main Chowk, leading to inconvenience to the general public, increased risk to human life and safety, and a higher probability of road accidents due to the movement of heavy vehicles during peak hours.

Ludhiana, March 26, 2026: Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ludhiana (East) has issued an order stating that whereas, it has been brought to notice through recent reports and media inputs that severe traffic congestion is being caused at Sahnewal Main Chowk, leading to inconvenience to the general public, increased risk to human life and safety, and a higher probability of road accidents due to the movement of heavy vehicles during peak hours.
The movement of heavy vehicles (including trucks, dumpers, tippers, trailers, and other goods vehicles carrying load beyond prescribed limits) shall remain prohibited at Sahnewal Main Chowk and Market from 07:00 AM to 08:00 PM.
The movement of such vehicles shall be permitted only during 08:00 PM to 07:00 AM.
The following categories shall be exempted from the above restrictions: Emergency vehicles (Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, etc.); Vehicles carrying essential commodities such as milk, LPG, vegetables, food grains, etc.; and Vehicles specifically permitted by the District Administration through written orders.
This order shall remain in force from March 27, 2026 till March 31, 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana shall ensure strict implementation and enforcement of this order, the order said.
The order has been issued in order to ensure smooth regulation of traffic, public safety, and prevention of any untoward incidents.
