In a powerful demonstration of community solidarity and healthcare advocacy, a motorcycle rally was organized by the Gift of Life Organ Donation Awareness Society (GLODAS), Aykai Academic Research Trust (AART), and Aykai Hospital, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 10, 2024: In a powerful demonstration of community solidarity and healthcare advocacy, a motorcycle rally was organized by the Gift of Life Organ Donation Awareness Society (GLODAS), Aykai Academic Research Trust (AART), and Aykai Hospital, Ludhiana. 

The rally, aimed at spreading awareness on organ donation, prostate, and kidney cancer, commenced from the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus, opposite the library complex, and concluded at Aykai Hospital, Ludhiana. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest Vikram Gaur, Chief Commissioner Income Tax applauded the efforts of the organizing entities in their mission to raise awareness. Stressing the significance of such initiatives, Gaur highlighted their potential in addressing organ shortage and prevalent cancers.


Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh, during his speech, reiterated the transformative potential of awareness campaigns. He expressed optimism that a well-informed community can significantly benefit society. Additionally, Dr. Aulakh highlighted the alarming statistic that 1 in 8 men suffer from Prostate Cancer in their lifetime, stressing the importance of early screening for this condition. He also emphasized the profound impact of organ donation, noting that one person after death can give lives to eight people through organ donation.


Approximately 150-200 riders from various groups actively participated in this rally. Special guest Vipin Kaushal, Regional Organ Tissue Transplant Organisation, Nodal Officer, and Medical Superintendent, PGI Chandigarh, further endorsed the importance of the rally's objectives. Upon conclusion, the rally was received by Sohail Qasim DCP Ludhiana, who felicitated the participants for their active involvement and support towards the cause. In his address, he emphasized the rally's motive: to educate the public about early detection, which can save numerous lives. He said that Police are always there to provide a green corridor for fast movement of organs after donation.

The collaborative efforts of GLODAS, AART, and Aykai Hospital reflect a commitment to addressing pressing healthcare challenges and fostering proactive healthcare engagement within the community. This rally serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring individuals to take proactive steps towards their health and the well-being of others.
