Monsoon Advisory: Tata Power-DDL launches extensive drive to implement safety measures

New Delhi: With the onset of the monsoon season, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) is taking proactive measures by organising an extensive safety drive for its consumers and staff to reduce chances of electricity-related mishaps.
The drive covers checking of leakage at all Tata Power-DDL installations. More than 63,000 installations including poles, fencings, pillar boxes, street light poles, etc., have been inspected, with rectifications in the leakages done. The company is also trimming trees to avoid falling on electrical installations, poles and wires.
 
As a part of this drive, the company is also checking leakage of electricity at installations by other agencies and consumers. Nearly 300 ATMs, 1300 MCD poles, and 500 park lights have been checked so far, in compliance with the social distancing norms. Supply is also being disconnected for dangerous installations at few places. The safety inspections also include weekly bazaars.

Tata Power-DDL is also issuing notices to consumers having illegal encroachments (residential and commercial properties) near power lines. Illegal extension of buildings and balconies near the overhead power lines with lower than prescribed critical distance mentioned in statutory guidelines can cause a construction hazard, leading to loss of life due to electrocution or flash burns.
