New Delhi, November 12, 2019: Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi Government’s art and culture wing who promotes the various Indian Art & Culture has opened their annual theatre festival Mohan Rakesh Natya Samaroh on 11th November and will continue until 14th November at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House.

The 4-day festival is a homage to the theatre legend Mohan Rakesh. Sahitya Kala Parishad conducted Mohan Rakesh Natya Lekan Competition, in which top four play writers across India were selected for Mohan Rakesh Samman. During this festival, the plays written by these selected writers will be presented. Krita by Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Chaya-Hindol by Shri Raas Bihari Dutt, Anth se Aarambh by Shri Ravikant Mishra and Chauthi Cigarette by Shri Yogesh Tripathi.

The first day of the ceremony was started with a book launch of Natya Tarang followed by the Mohan Rakesh Award-winning play Krita by Dr Sanjeev Kumar and directed by Sanjay Upadhayay. Krita is about a cruel practice Devadasis followed in the shadow of religion.

On the second day, another strong play – Anth Se Aarambh by Ravikant Mishra was presented. The play directed by Abhilash Pillai is about the destruction happening in the name of development. The ultra-philosophical mindset that has been established in the centre of life today. How the land, water and forest is being taken over for artificial world material. The play depicts a writer who lives in a village and his work suddenly gets recognized in the city. His writings get published and he becomes famous. When he comes back to his village, he witnesses that his village is also getting developed into a tourist spot.

Ravikant Mishra, a determined personality who embodies literature in theater. A creative artist whose every move progresses more strongly than the previous step. Ravikant has proved his mettle with his performances of 'Hayavadan', 'Khamosh Adalat Jaari Hai', 'Ek Ladki Paanj Diwanne', 'Babuji', 'Chidimar Ki Swarga Yatra' etc. Not just these, his artistic skill has touched many television serials like "Shanti, Yeh Kaha Aa Gaye Hum"," Coffee House", "Anjulimal", "Haqikat" to name a few. Jamshedpur-born Ravikant is a trained actor. He had taken part in a 45-day intensive workshop organized by the National School of Drama in 1994 and a week-long theater experience with German director Wulfham Mering at the Max Müller Building, New Delhi. He also completed a nine-month acting course in the 1994–95 from the Shriram Center for Art and Culture, New Delhi. Since then he is walking ahead leaving behind new milestones. He has been awarded the Shrestha Puraskar for theatrical writing for "Pehli Saas Se Pehle" and "Naafrat Hi Ulfat".
