Nilokheri, September 22, 2026: Dr Virender Singh Chauhan, Director, Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD) said that Haryana has made significant progress in crop-residue management by promoting modern farm machinery.
Addressing a farm equipment verification programme organised by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department on Tuesday, Dr Chauhan urged farmers to stop burning stubble and instead manage it within the field. He said modern machinery can help control residue burning while improving soil fertility.
A committee of officials inspected and verified Super Seeders purchased by farmers from villages in Nilokheri block under a government scheme.
Dr Chauhan said farmers must be connected with new technology through practical demonstrations, as awareness campaigns alone are not enough. He noted that sustained efforts have helped curb stubble-burning incidents across Haryana, including Karnal.
Karnal Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Jogender Saini said the Super Seeder incorporates crop residue into the soil during sowing, helping improve the availability of organic matter and maintain soil fertility.
