Dharamshala, November 8, 2025: The Himachal Pradesh government is set to develop a state-of-the-art modern city in Kangra district, modeled after Chandigarh. The proposed city will come up in the Lanj and Tiara areas and will feature all modern amenities, marking a major milestone in the state’s economic, social, and industrial progress.
Shahpur MLA and Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania shared this information while addressing a program organized by the NSUI at Lanj College, where he was the chief guest. Pathania expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for envisioning such a transformative plan, adding that the new city will be developed sector-wise on a well-planned model.
He informed that the Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of executing this ambitious project. The site, located near Gaggal Airport and the four-lane highway, offers excellent connectivity and logistical convenience.
Pathania said the project will give Kangra a new identity and dimension of growth. “It will not only be a city but a symbol of a new era of development that will reshape the economic landscape of the state,” he said. The new city is expected to create employment for youth, generate business opportunities for locals, and give a significant boost to tourism in the region.
