Ludhiana, July 12, 2023: With the water level in buddha nullah increasing due to excessive flow of water from upstream areas, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal moved to the field for taking stock of the situation on Wednesday.

The legislators and officials inspected different points of the nullah including New Kundanpuri, Shivpuri, Pavitar Nagar, Tajpur road among other areas.

While taking stock of the situation, the officials also interacted with the public for their feedback in different areas including New Madhopuri, Shivpuri among other areas. 

The residents appreciated the efforts being put in the civic body to tackle the situation. The residents in New Madhopuri area appreciated the civic body officials for their timely action to strengthen the banks of the nullah otherwise the area would have faced waterlogging at large. Dr Aggarwal thanked the residents for their support.
  
Meanwhile MC Commissioner Dr Aggarwal directed the officials to further expedite the process to strengthen the nullah and pump out accumulated water from the affected areas around the nullah. 

Dr Aggarwal also directed the authorities to expedite the work to fill sandbags so that the process to strengthen the banks should not get affected. 

Dr Aggarwal also inspected the area where a breach was reported in the nullah on Tajpur road on Monday night. The breach was immediately plugged by the civic body teams within a short period. On Wednesday, Dr Aggarwal directed the officials to further strengthen the banks of the nullah at the site. She also visited the nearby electricity grid. Preventive measures have been taken to ensure that the water does not get into the grid premises.

Dr Aggarwal stated that the water level in the nullah has increased due to excessive flow of water from upstream areas and the civic body is continuously monitoring the situation. Machinery has been deployed to clean the nullah and pump out accumulated water from the affected areas adjoining the nullah. Fogging is also being done in the areas to save the residents from vector borne diseases

Dr Aggarwal appealed to the public to support the civic body which is committed to take strong measures to tackle the situation.
