MLA Vaid and DC launch covid vaccination camp in Pohir

Ludhiana: With an aim to escalate the speed of inoculation drive by setting up additional vaccination sites at near the homes of people especially in rural belt, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gill constituency Kuldeep Singh Vaid and Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday launched an immunization camp in Pohir village. 

Kick-starting the camp by getting the vaccine into his left arm, MLA accompanied by Deputy Commissioner said that with all residents above the age of 45 are now eligible for coronavirus vaccines, the administration is already in mission mode and has organized around 250 vaccination camps including civil hospital, sub-divisional and private institutions, health and wellness centres and we are hoping that people would come in large number to get the shield. 

They said that the vaccine is vital to suppresses this fresh wave of deadly disease and would help to save the precious lives. 

Urging the sarpanches and other representatives of local bodies to play a proactive role in busting the myth or misinformation surrounding vaccine, they said that this is one kind of national duty and people must fulfill it to protect the country and countrymen from pathogen. 

They said that District Administration has been evoking encouraging response from the people and numbers of camps have been increased to meet the demand of vaccine among the entitled category. 

They emphasized the need for transforming this drive into a mass movement to ensure vaccination of a larger population group a short span of time. 

Prominent among present occasion included Chairman market committee Kilan Raipur Ranjeet Singh Mangat, Sarpanchs Ravdeep Singh, Balbir Singh, Davinder Singh and others were present.

COVID VACCINATION DRIVE BEGINS AT DMCH RURAL HEALTH CENTRE, POHIR
On 1st April today, COVID Vaccination Drive began at DMCH Rural Health Centre, Pohir The drive began in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma, Secretary Prem Kumar Gupta, Medical Supdt (HDHI) Dr Bishav Mohan, MLA S Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Dr Anurag Chaudhary (Professor & Head of Community Medicine,DMCH )  and other dignitaries.
In their messages, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma Secretary Prem Kumar Gupta urged the people to come forward to get themselves vaccinated against COVID and also use other measures including wearing masks properly, washing hands and maintain social distancing to limit the spread of COVID pandemic.
Medical Supdt. (HDHI) Dr Bishav Mohan stressed that people should not hesitate in getting themselves vaccinated against COVID as it will tremendously reduce the risk of COVID pandemic acquiring magnified spread.   
Dr Anurag Chaudhary stressed that Department of Community Medicine, DMCH has been instrumental in conducting effective COVID Vaccination Sites in DMCH & Hero DMC Heart Institute premises.
Dr Surinder Pal Singh, Associate Professor of Community Medicine and In-charge Rural Health Centre, Pohir informed that from today onwards, COVID Vaccination will be done for anyone of or above 45 years of age and is absolutely safe. The main purpose of reducing the age limit of population for COVID Vaccination is to include many more people in its fold. Also present were Dr Sarit Sharma, Dr Sangeeta Girdhar, Dr Mahesh Satija, Dr Amanjot Kaur, Dr Puneet Dhawan  and Dr Marina Dhawan   
On the same day today, COVID Vaccination Drive began at DMCH Rural Health Centre, Shimplapuri also.
