MLA Surinder Dawar inaugurates project of covering Nullah in ward no 56 and 57

Ludhiana, December 20, 2021: Ludhiana Central MLA Surinder Dawar inaugurated Rs 9.5 crore project to cover Nullah stretch passing from ward number 56 and ward number 57, here today.
Completion of the project would provide a huge relief to residents of these wards, who had been suffering from multiple problems because of the open stretch of the drain being a health threat. Residents of the area used to complain about the incessant stench emanating from the drain. The open stretch of the ‘nullah’ has been causing health problems to area residents also. People used to throw garbage along the stretch.
There was also fear of commuters especially kids skidding and falling into drain, while driving on the roads running alongside.
Speaking about the project, MLA Surinder Dawar said, “I had promised people that I would get this stretch of the Budda Nullah covered and by starting this project today, I have kept my word and commitment to the people of Ludhiana Central.”
MLA Dawar said that he has also got the Buddha Nullah stretch from Shagun Palace to Gurdwara Shri Dukhniwaran Sahib completed at the cost of Rs 40 crore and got a smart road made over it. Another such project of covering a stretch costing Rs 18.5 crore is nearly 60 percent complete in Shivaji Nagar, Dawar said.
“Ever since our country became Independent 74 years ago, no MLA ever, be it from SAD or BJP, dared to take up such colossal projects to provide relief to the people. But I took it upon myself to accept this challenge to get these stretches of Nullah in my constituency completely covered and provide relief to people,” he said.
Senior Deputy Mayor Sham Sundar Malhotra, Block President Vipan Arora amongst others were also present on the occasion.
