MLA Sidhu inaugurates project to install water supply lines under canal based water supply project
Reiterating the commitment of the state government in ensuring potable water supply for residents, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the project to lay water supply pipeline under canal based water supply project from Dugri canal bridge on Monday.
Ludhiana, December 1, 2025: Reiterating the commitment of the state government in ensuring potable water supply for residents, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the project to lay water supply pipeline under canal based water supply project from Dugri canal bridge on Monday.
Around 2 kms long pipeline would be installed alongside the canal starting from Dugri canal bridge at a cost of around Rs 10 crore.
Accompanied by councillor Usha Rani, councillor Komalpreet Kaur Sachdeva, and Surinder Kalyan, MLA Sidhu stated that the first phase of the world bank and AIIB funded canal based water supply project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1300 crore (civil works).
Under this project, a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being constructed in village Bilga (near Sahnewal) from where treated surface water would be supplied to the city. Overhead water reservoirs and associated pipelines are also being installed in different parts of the city and quality infrastructure is being developed.
MLA Sidhu further stated that working under the guidance of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, they have been working towards overall sustainable development. People-centric projects are being taken up and feedback is also being taken from the public to bring a positive change at the ground level.
Sameer Kalyan, Sehaj Kukreja, Asees Kalra, Ompal Singh, Jatinder Kalyan among others were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
