MLA Prashar orders marking of lines for street vendors to streamline movement of traffic in Janakpuri and Vijay Nagar area

Ludhiana, January 12, 2024: With an aim to streamline the movement of traffic, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi ordered marking of lines for street vendors in Janakpuri and Vijay Nagar area.

Conducting an inspection in the area along with MC Zonal Commissioner (Zone B) Neeraj Jain among other officials on Friday, MLA Prashar also appealed the street vendors to install their vends within the marked area to avoid action.

MLA Prashar and Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain said that it is a temporary provision to streamline the movement of traffic until the street vending zones are not established. The concerned civic body officials have also been directed to expedite the work of establishing street vending zones in the central constituency.

MLA Prashar said that the aim is to streamline the movement of traffic as the residents have been facing trouble due to traffic jams. But they do not want to disturb the street vendors who are earning bread and butter for their families. Due to this, a decision has been taken that lines would be marked in the area and street vendors will be allowed to install their vends in the specific marked area. 

This is a temporary provision. Directions have also been issued to the civic body officials to expedite the work to establish street vending zones and the street vendors would then be shifted to those vending zones, said MLA Prashar.
