MLA Prashar, MC Commissioner inaugurates Bajwa Nagar static compactor site

Ludhiana, March 15, 2024: Moving forward to achieve the goal of 'garbage free city', Ludhiana central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi inaugurated the Bajwa nagar static compactors site on Friday.

After the installation of compactors at this site, the open garbage dumps situated in Bajwa nagar (near Kamla Lohtia college) and Wait Ganj would be removed permanently. These open dumps have been troubling the residents for decades as foul smell has been emanating out of these dump sites.

The compactor site has been established at a cost of around Rs 2 crore (including civil and mechanical cost).

MLA Prashar said that the open garbage dump in Bajwa Nagar and Wait Ganj were troubling the residents in different ways and traditional parties failed to pay heed to the problem.

After he took up the matter with the authorities, a space was arranged for setting up this compactor site and the site has now been made operational. The garbage will not be dumped in the open from now on. The waste will directly be dumped into the compactors and it will then be transported to the main dump site of MC on Tajpur road using hook loaders, added MLA Prashar.

MLA Prashar said that a total six compactor sites are being established in Ludhiana central constituency. Of these, two have now been made operational in Cheema Chowk and Bajwa nagar. The remaining sites in Field Ganj, backside Civil hospital, Pratap chowk and Khawaja Kothi chowk will also be made operational in the coming days. After these sites would be made operational, all the open garbage dumps would be removed from Ludhiana Central constituency.

MLA Prashar said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is working to develop quality infrastructure across the state. The legislator further stated that development projects worth crores are being taken up to give a facelift to Ludhiana Central constituency and to facilitate the residents at large.

Deepak Makkar, Satnam Ahuja, Raju Vohra, Satpal, Rajesh Jain Bobby, Arun Kapoor, Alka Malhotra, Arwinder Chadha, Pardeep Gabbi, Anil Parti, Amber Parti among others were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
