He assured the Vice-Chancellor that the Haryana government would extend every possible help to safeguard the interests of the patients.
Expressing his gratitude to MLA Manmohan Bhadana for this contribution made in the interest of patients, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal said that these beds would enable critically ill patients undergoing high-dose radiation therapy to access world-class facilities—not only during their treatment but also during their recovery phase. The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that this initiative by MLA Bhadana would inspire other capable members of society and NGOs to come forward and contribute to the welfare of patients.
Dr. S.K. Singhal, Director of PGIMS, explained that Nuclear Medicine Therapy is a highly precise and effective method for treating ailments such as cancer, thyroid cancer, bone pain palliation, and Graves' disease. In this procedure, radioactive medications are used to target diseased cells directly; this ensures that healthy organs remain unharmed, and the side effects are significantly fewer compared to chemotherapy.
Dr. Rohit, Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, said that out of these 10 new beds, 5 will be installed in the High-Dose Ward, 3 in the Recovery Room, and 2 in the Low-Dose Iodine Therapy Room. This will triple the department's bed capacity and provide relief to patients currently on the waiting list. Present on the occasion were Dr. Manjunath, Dr. Pankaj Chhikara, Chief Physiotherapist Dr. Anil Kaushik, Pharmacist Krishna Chhokar, Nurses Association Chairman Manoj Khatana, Nurses Association President Vikas Phogat, DNS Honey Prabha, along with other dignitaries, officials, and staff members.
