MLA Chhina inaugurates static compactors site worth Rs 2 crore in Dhandari Kalan to stop open dumping of garbage  

Ludhiana, February 16, 2024: Providing a major relief to the residents from open dumping of garbage, Ludhiana South MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina inaugurated a static compactors site in Dhandari Kalan area on Friday. 

The static compactors in Dhandari Kalan have been installed at a cost of Rs 2 crore under smart city mission. The static compactors are being installed at a total 22 locations across the city at a cost of around Rs 33.50 crore (including civil and mechanical works). MC Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kanwar, Health Officer Dr Vipal Malhotra among others were also present during the inauguration ceremony. 
 
MLA Chhina said that currently, the garbage collected from houses is dumped in the open at the secondary dumping sites situated in different parts of the city. The garbage is then shifted to the main dump site of the MC on Tajpur road. The open secondary dump sites have been putting a blot on the face of the city and the residents have also been facing problems due to foul smell emanating out of the garbage dumps.
 
The legislator further stated that after the installation of compactors across the city, the open secondary dump sites would be eliminated and garbage will directly be dumped inside the compactors. No foul smell would emanate and it would provide a major relief to the residents. In total, four compactor sites are being established in Ludhiana South constituency. 

MLA Chhina said that Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is committed for the overall development of the state and this project will provide a huge relief to the residents from open dumping of garbage.

The area residents also applauded the efforts of MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina for taking up development works in the constituency including the project to install static compactors.
