Mission JEEVNI formally launched by District Administration

Ludhiana, January 6, 2026: Mission JEEVNI, a district-level initiative aimed at reducing Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and preventing avoidable maternal deaths, was formally launched today by the administration.
The Mission Jeevni Policy Document Booklet was released by the Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, IAS, with Pragati Verma AC UT, Civil Surgeon Dr Ramandeep, Chief Cardiologist Dr Bishav Mohan, DFPO Dr Amanpreet and Mission Coordinator Shweta Sharma, outlining the mission’s objectives, implementation framework, and roles of stakeholders.
A training programme for ASHA workers was organised as part of the launch, focusing on identification of high-risk pregnancies, timely referral, institutional deliveries, and post-natal care. On this occasion, ASHA workers took a written _pledge of 10 key duties_, reaffirming their commitment towards maternal and newborn health.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of around 1,500 ASHA workers, highlighting strong grassroots involvement in strengthening maternal health outcomes across the district.
