Ministry of External Affairs’ ITEC Programme for Candidates of Afghanistan commenced at LPU

Jalandhar, February 10, 2022: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has commenced Ministry of External Affairs’ year-long ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) programs on ‘Digital & Social Media Marketing for Organization Growth’; and, ‘Effective English Communication for Business & Office Purpose’ programs, at its campus. 30 Afghan Military candidates, who are undergoing training at Indian Military Academy, are to learn on these two programs physically in two groups at the Campus. Beginning from the 9th of February 2022, the programme will continue up to next year.  For this learning, two groups of Afghan candidates are at LPU campus.  

Four top ranked diplomats from the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in India; Education Attache Mr. Sediqullah Sahar, Defence Attache Colonel Karimullah Karim, Deputy Defence Attache Major Mohammad Agha Ayar, and the Head of Admin Ziaullah Hashimi participated in the inaugural session. Addressing all, Mr Sediqullah thanked LPU for organizing the academic sessions for the benefit of his country. He also referred to the program as the best career and capacity building program for Afghan candidates. Col Karim wanted candidates to learn the things by being under strong discipline and involvement.   

Prior to this, while welcoming the candidates and the elite guests from the Afghan Embassy, ITEC Director and Vice President at LPU, Mr Aman Mittal shared that, undoubtedly, the ITEC program is very challenging; yet, it is very favourite to all of us at LPU. He assured the candidates for a maximum of learning from the best of programs chalked out by LPU faculty, keeping in view the wants of Afghan candidates. Quoting an example of a thirsty horse and water, Mr Mittal elucidated that it depends upon the candidates how much useful they can absorb from LPU trainers.

LPU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sanjay Modi advised candidates to maximize their learning of the high order skills to be able to work globally as per their preferences. He also made them aware of strict measures adopted at LPU, especially in regard to attendance, examination and other rules. He implored the participants to learn as much as they can from the program, and to use the same in the development of their country.

In fact, India has the competence of providing technical know-how and expertise as well as training opportunities, consultancy services and feasibility studies to other nations. These programs are continuously generating immense goodwill and substantive cooperation among the developing countries. Here, worth mentioning is that LPU has already organized many ITEC programmes, both in physical and online forms of different durations, for the development of other countries.

The ITEC Programme has evolved and grown over the years in 161 countries of Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Pacific & Small Island countries. These are invited to share in the Indian developmental experience acquired over many decades of India's existence as a free nation. Associate Director Mr Nitesh Mahajan at LPU's Division of International Affairs is convening the program along with his team.
