Minister Sond inaugurates three panchayat houses worth Rs 1.20 crore in Khanna villages
Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Saturday inaugurated three newly constructed panchayat houses built at a total cost of Rs 1.20 crore.
Khanna (Ludhiana), November 1, 2025: Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Saturday inaugurated three newly constructed panchayat houses built at a total cost of Rs 1.20 crore.
The state-of-the-art buildings, costing Rs 40 lakh each, were dedicated in Dahiru, Mehandipur, and Bhumaddi villages.
Sond also made several major announcements for village Bhumaddi, stating that the 7.5-kilometre road from Dahiru GT Road to Khanna-Malerkotla via Bhumaddi and Chakohi will soon be reconstructed. A Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) will be built at a cost of Rs 35 lakh, while Rs 40 lakh has been allocated for a modern playground equipped with all facilities, to be completed within six months. Rs three lakh for flooring the SC cremation ground and Rs two lakh for repairing the SC Dharamshala, in addition to a Rs 25 lakh grant for other development works in the village. For Mehandipur, Rs 5 lakh was sanctioned to complete the pending sewerage work, along with Rs 11.37 lakh for constructing a playground.
Minister Sond said the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is fast-tracking health, education, and infrastructure development across the state. He criticised previous governments for neglecting rural areas, adding that the Aam Aadmi Party is now fulfilling long-pending demands on priority. Works pending for 75 years are being completed in record time. In the next one year, no development work will remain pending in Khanna constituency,” he assured. With better infrastructure, the pace of progress in the entire region will accelerate further, he added.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Market Committee Khanna Chairman Jagtar Singh Gill Rattanheri, District Planning Board Member Master Avtar Singh Dahiru and others.
