Minister for Local Government launches `Mera Shehar-Mera Maan’ campaign for 12 Municipal Corporations and Class-1 ULBS of Punjab 

Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, August 26, 2022: Local Government Minister Punjab Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar today launched the 'Mera Shehar-Mera Maan' campaign which will cover 12 Municipal Corporations and Class-1 Urban Local Bodies of PUnjab to make them clean and green. 
 
Dr Nijjar launched the campaign at a program in district SAS Nagar after which he inspected the cleanliness of the sewerage, roads and  parks.
 
Adressing the gathering during this program, Dr.  Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that 'Mera Shehar-Mera Maan' campaign aims to make our cities clean and green  where cleanliness is a way of life.  The main objective of this campaign is to create awareness about various aspects of sanitation as well as to provide a better standard of living to the residents. 
 
 
Dr.  Nijjar said that  community participation is essential to make any campaign successful. He said that under this campaign various activities involving all the stakeholders of every ULB will be executed on every Friday in one or two wards. He said that the officials will visit the wards in advance according to the program to implement these activities so that the required manpower along with the equipment is available on the scheduled day to carry out the activities to be done under this campaign.
 
Dr.  Nijjar said that the people of the wards, community leaders, religious leaders, NGOs/socio-religious organizations and local political leaders will also be involved to make Mera Shehar-Mera Maan a community based campaign. He further stated that ULBs should also encourage the formation of Ward Committees/Mohalla Committees to ensure effective cleanliness of their wards/Mohallas on a regular basis.
Speaking on this occasion MLA Mr. Kulwant Singh  appealed to the people that the Punjab  Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan started this 'Mera Shehar-Mera Maan' campaign to raise the standard of living of the people and to make cleanliness a part of daily life.  He appealed the public to cooperate and support the administration and the government so that the dream of making Punjab colorful again can be fulfilled.
 On this occasion, a play was also presented by the school children on the topic of adopting cleanliness and stopping the use of plastic.in the presence of Constituency MLA Mr. Kulwant Singh. Mayor of Municipal Corporation Mr. Amarjit Singh Sidhu was also present .
