Minister demands specialised health services for Tanda Medical College

Shimla, September 21, 2015: Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur has urged the Union Health Ministry to provide medical equipments for the newly constructed specialized medical block of Dr.Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda in Kangra district.

Shri Kaul Singh Thakur who held a meeting with Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda at New Delhi today apprised that the construction of this block was completed in 2014 and medical equipments amounting to almost Rs. 150 crore had to be set up out of which Rs. 125 crore had to be provided by Government of India. He demanded to release this amount at the earliest so that the block could be made functional to facilitate the people of the State.

Raising the issue of Cancer units approved for the Zonal Hospitals at Shimla and Mandi, Shri Thakur said the amount for setting up these units had not been released so far despite the Memorandum of Understanding already signed with the Union Health Ministry. He requested to release this amount to the State.

He also urged for making functional the ESI Hospital, Ner Chowk in Mandi district and to establish Trauma Centre in IGMC, Shimla.

Later, Shri Kaul Singh Thakur also met Union Panchayati Raj Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh and raised the issue to release more funds to the State under MNREGA. He also sought cooperation of the Centre to provide road connectivity to the villages of Himachal Pradesh having population of more than 250 people.
